A journal of contemporary storytelling, essays and poetry
Odet is a journal dedicated to the written and visual arts, with a focus on fiction, essays, memoir and poetry. Odet is named for early Pinellas County settler and storyteller Odet Philippe, and was created by Safety Harbor Writers & Poets.
We seek fiction, poetry, essays/memoirs, and artwork or photos from Floridians that reflect the annual theme. We are looking for submissions that hook us, inspire or surprise us—be creative!
The submission period for the 2020 edition of Odet is now closed. Our judges and editors are reviewing submissions and will contact all authors and artists by Labor Day. Thank you to all who submitted your amazing work and sharing your talents with us. This volume of Odet will be the best yet. We expect that the issue will be released around the first weekend of March. More details as they are finalized.
The third volume of Odet was released on March 3, 2019. The theme for this year was "the line." There are punch lines, crossed lines, lines thrown and lines drawn. Lines are boundaries and borders, things to color outside of and things that keep us inside. Writers, poets, and artists submitted their best work that incorporates this word in a host of contexts.
